A Gentle Productivity System (Image by Author)

In this uncertain post-covid world, it might be overwhelming to get back to our old routines and stay productive. Digital media doesn’t make our transition easier. The Internet is overflowing with productivity methods and tools. We have access to too much content. Some people preach early morning work routines, some lecture on abandoning 9 to 5 working hours, whereas some recommend rigid self-discipline techniques. We often lose motivation to work if a particular method doesn’t work for us.

There is no one best system that works for all since no human is alike.

We might also run into situations where the techniques that worked for us in the past don’t work anymore. That’s when we start comparing our present selves with the past. Sometimes we also start comparing our productive time with others, which is even worse. Ultimately, we end up in an unhealthy comparison loop.

I was too caught up in this self-degrading loop of associating my self-worth with my productivity. I was obsessed with doing more and ended up losing the motivation to do anything at all. Eventually, I realized my shortcomings and treated myself with the gentleness that I deserved.

Let me break down the system that worked for me and how you can adapt it in a way that suits you.
